LT1 SCANMASTER CODE
The customers I have who use the generic OBD-II code readers are the same ones who the parts stores have a big star next to because they can't diagnose anything but they sure can change every part in the car out till they figure it out - maybe. There is a huge difference between a code puller and something that will display the data stream your ECM is making decisions with. I'm a Snap On dealer and I'd agree with this 100%. I'd also just ditch the stock maf if its bad, and get a 3 inch LT1 and a MAF translator. This is with a translator and a used 3' LT1 maf. Scanmaster is needed to figure out the air flow readings, that is pretty much mandatory. Those code readers usually just make it hard for techs like me to get the customer past the"Well XXXXXXXXX store told me it was this because I have such and such code" then I have to tell them that a code may only get me close to problem and not tell me wht to fix.Ĭodes just get you to somewhere close to the problems and they sure as heck wont fix problems. As I was collecting data I decided to watch the AF on the scanmaster and it wouldn't go over 176-178 under WOT clear up to 100 MPH.
